Individual Therapy
Depression – Depression is not a character flaw it is a disease. Most people do not understand that depression is often manifested as anger, irritability, bitterness, disappointment, mood swings, constant fatigue, and sadness. Identifying depression and creating a safe haven for you to be open and honest are the first steps toward healing.
PTSD – Helping individuals enduring post-traumatic stress understand the ways that it is not their fault to be feeling what they do as a result of the trauma experienced. I work with individuals to untangle and heal the effects of the trauma. Helping them understand the emotional and physical triggers that exacerbate the effects of the ongoing trauma experienced. I coach you on how to pay attention to bodily signs that are precursor of often buried and difficult emotions.
Anxiety – A clinical condition, anxiety is never the fault of the individual. It can be parallelizing, frightening, misunderstood and mimic medical conditions. I bring awareness to individuals on how to recognize early physical symptoms so they can learn to practice coping strategies prior to the escalation of anxiety to panic. “Our goal will be to manage this disease so you can have a more fulfilled daily routine and life.”
LGBTQ – Teens (or adults). There is so much power in being heard in a non-judgmental way. I listen with a compassionate
non-judgemental heart and offer empathy. Parents did not do anything wrong, a child is not abnormal because of their sexual orientation. I help both the young person and the parents to set up boundaries to improve acceptance, health and functioning of the LGBTQ youth.
Most LGBTQ teens are cyberbullied. I can provide guidelines for social media use and real-time, real-life peer interactions at
school, work, or home. I can also provide National Crisis
Resources including texting options to volunteer crisis
counselors available 24/7.
Spectrum Coping – How to enhance the life of someone on the spectrum is individualized. Here are a few things to provide structure and safety – be consistent, stick to schedule, reward good behavior and create a safety zone at home and at school.
Learning your person’s cues is of optimal importance. We discover the motivation behind the negative behaviors and provide a path to better choices that lead to more positive experiences at school and at home. It is important to discern if a young person is on the spectrum and intervene before their internal frustration can lead into outward behaviors that are then labeled as “oppositional defiant disorder.”
Relationship Therapy
Couples – Couples counseling for all types of partnerships who want to improve their communication and work on their relationship skills together. I can teach you how to hear your partner’s love language.
Family – Family dynamics can often be tricky waters to navigate. I want to teach you how to enjoy healthy, strong, supportive relationships between sisters, brothers, mothers and fathers.
Blended Family – When marriages dissolve it is important to learn how to create a healthy blended family. “Teaching families to put the children first and how to co-parent for the purpose of healthy child development”
Anger Management – When marriages dissolve it is important to learn how to create a healthy blended family. “Teaching families to put the children first and how to co-parent for the purpose of healthy child development”
Domestic Violence - Most of us were required to have 50 to 100 hours of supervised training to get a driver’s license. But nowhere is there required training prior to obtaining a marriage license. Believe it or not individuals are not born knowing how to successfully relate to one another. Everyone will disagree at some point. I offer individuals techniques for de escalation so that negotiation and greater harmony are possible. I teach individuals how to take responsibility for their emotions and not use them as weapons against their partner.
